DAHEDI insulin system model 25 : Introduction
The DAHEDI insulin pump model 25 offers most comprehensive insulin administration. Having 24 individual programmable different rates, an additional manual rate, a unique 'pause after bolus' and 42 days history recording facility, the model 25 opens a new world for insulin administration.
The DAHEDI insulin administration system is developed and produced by Dahedi Medical Systems BV, located at Maarssen, the Netherlands. The system is meant for subcutaneous injection of fast working insulin.
The pistonrod of the DAHEDI insulin pump pushes the piston of a special, commercial available, vial, filled with U100 fast acting insulin. Using a proper catheter and needle, insulin is dossed subcutaneously into the body.
TYPICAL FEATURES:
Dayprofile:
Each hour of the day a separate delivery rate can be programmed in steps of 0.1IU per hour. Actual delivery and time of the day is displayed continuously. Adjustable per hour in steps of 0.1 IU from 0.1 IU up to 6.0 IU per hour.
Additional rate:
A 25th rate, adjustable in steps of 0.1 IU from 0.1 IU up to 6.0 IU per hour, can be easily switched on wihout disturbing the existing profile. This feature is extremely meaningful if temporarely increase or decrease is wanted, p.e. during sports, influenza or flights.
Meal bolus:
Activating the bolus button delivers each time a volume of 0.5 IU of insulin. The total volume is diplayed and wiped automatically after one hour.
Pause after bolus:
Actual programmed administration can be hold for some (programmable) time depending on the volume of the adminstrated bolus. Programmable between 1 and 15 min. per bolus.
Limitations:
Adjustable for maximum dose per day (between 1 - 99 IU /day) and dose per bolus (between 1 - 99 IU / day, maximum 32 IU / hr.).
Computer read-out:
A built-in 42 days memory, registrating historical settings and actual delivery, can be read- out by a simple PC, even by telephone. A transmitting device and associated software can be connected to the parallel port of the PC (optional).
User friendly:
Extremely small. Light weight. Watertight. Easy to wear. Big reservoir of 3 ml. IU U100 insulin (i.e. 300 IU capacity). Long-life battery pack, lasting for at least 3 months. All settings are kept during battery change.
Safe & reliable:
Two-button-operation. Main functions activated by separate buttons. All electronics double executed. Acoustical signals when programming. Acoustical and display alarms for low vial, low battery, clotted needle, excelled limitations, a.s.o. CE-mark, ISO 9003 and FDA approved and certificated.
Warrantee:
Each instrument has a pre-set lifetime of 2 years, counting down only when the pump is switched 'on'. Full warrantee is granted over this lifetime (misuse and mechanical damages excluded).
